Teya Card Terminals Compared: Go, Pro, and Tap to Pay

Teya offers three ways to take card payments in person. The right choice depends on your business type, transaction volume, whether you need a receipt printer, and how you want to set up your counter or till.

Teya Go: Standalone Smart Terminal (PAX A77)

The Teya Go is a full standalone Android smart terminal. The underlying hardware is the PAX A77, manufactured by PAX Technology and white-labelled by Teya as the Go.

Key facts:

  • Price: £69 outright, plus VAT. No monthly rental option available.
  • Hardware platform: PAX A77 (PAX Technology).
  • Operating system: PayDroid, powered by Android 14.
  • Processor: Cortex A53 + ARM.
  • Memory: 2GB DDR RAM, 16/32GB eMMC storage, microSD slot up to 128GB.
  • Screen: 5.5-inch IPS HD+ touchscreen (720 x 1440 pixels), multi-point capacitive.
  • Security: PCI PTS 7 SRED (the current generation certification). EMV L1 and L2. EMV Contactless.
  • Connectivity: 4G + WiFi 5GHz + Bluetooth 5.0. Built-in GPS, GLONASS, and BEIDOU.
  • Cameras: 2MP front-facing, 5MP rear-facing. Built-in top-side barcode scanner.
  • Battery: 5150mAh standard (3020mAh option).
  • Printer: No built-in printer. Digital receipts via SMS or email.
  • Pairing: Fully standalone, or pairs with a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth and the Teya App.
  • Use case: Mobile businesses, market traders, pop-ups, service-to-table hospitality, tradespeople, businesses needing barcode scanning at the point of sale.

The Teya Go runs Android 14 and holds a PCI PTS 7 SRED certification (both more current than the Teya Pro's Android 7.1 and PCI PTS 5.0). Its 4G, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and barcode scanner make it a capable field terminal. The main practical difference from the Pro is that it has no built-in printer.

Tap to Pay: Use Your iPhone or Android Phone

Tap to Pay turns a compatible smartphone into a card terminal. No extra hardware required.

Key facts:

  • Price: Free. No hardware purchase.
  • Device requirements: iPhone XS or later (iOS), or Android 12 or later with NFC enabled.
  • How it works: The customer taps their contactless card or device to your phone. Processed via the Teya App.
  • Launched: Tap to Pay on iPhone available from October 2025.
  • Use case: Businesses that already use a smartphone and want the lowest-friction way to accept cards. Pop-ups, market stalls, or as a secondary payment method alongside a main terminal.

Note: Tap to Pay is subject to contactless transaction limits. Higher-value transactions may require chip-and-PIN, which cannot be completed on Tap to Pay alone.

Which Terminal Should You Choose?

  • Teya Go if you are mobile, budget-conscious, and do not need receipts printed at the point of payment.
  • Teya Pro if you have a fixed till area, need receipt printing, or want full ePOS integration.
  • Tap to Pay if you already have a compatible smartphone and want the simplest possible setup at no additional cost.

If your business uses an ePOS system like Loyverse or ePOS Now, the Teya Pro will give you the most comprehensive integration options.
